Our Teaching School
Driving collaboration and professional development
Within our multi-academy trust we house the Trent Valley Teaching School Alliance (TVTSA) – a National Teaching School and Designated OLEVI Centre of Excellence. TVTSA was formed in 2013 and is based at the Ofsted Outstanding Tuxford Academy. Its many programmes are developed and delivered by colleagues across the trust’s academies.
Teaching schools are outstanding schools that work with others to provide high-quality training and development to both new and experienced staff. TVTSA currently has eight secondary and 32 primary school alliance members – the vast majority of which are rated Good or better by Ofsted.
Over the last two years, our alliance has successfully bid for £77,000 of additional funding to drive school improvements – all part of the government’s plan to give schools a central role in raising standards by developing a self-improving and sustainable school-led system.
Delivering accredited programmes
As a key part of our Diverse Academies Institute, TVTSA offers a wide range of leadership development opportunities and accredited programmes. From September 2018, this includes the OLEVI Outstanding Leaders in Education programme.
TVTSA collaborates with a number of other teaching school alliances to ensure an extensive range of opportunities are offered to staff working across all phases of education. These include:
- Routes into teaching
- School to school support
- Research and development
- CPD and leadership development
Each year, over 150 delegates benefit from joining our network of educational colleagues. A range of courses are offered, including the Outstanding Teacher Programme, Improving Teacher Programme, Power of Coaching and the Early Career Development Programme.
We are committed to working widely across our region. TVTSA has two OLEVI accredited quality assurance consultants/coaches and carries out a number of quality assurances for other centres across the Midlands, Yorkshire and Humber regions.
TVTSA has recently worked closely with a group of schools and the local authority in Rotherham to support and deliver a series of OLEVI programmes – aimed at sharing best practice, useful information and ideas in a collaborative environment. Under the steer of TVTSA, this hub of schools has now become an OLEVI facilitation centre in its own right.
Alongside the neighbouring Redhill TSA, TVTSA jointly leads the Nottingham City and Nottinghamshire Science Learning Partnership and is an Early Excellence Hub.
